AFIC 43rd Working Committee Meeting: A Gathering of ASEAN Leaders in the Furniture Industry
On April 1st, 2025, the 43rd AFIC Working Committee Meeting took place at Meeting Room 103, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
Leading the discussions were Mr. Dhanakorn Kasetrsuwan, Chairman of AFIC, and Mr. Chinthep Angkhumsub, Secretary General of AFIC. The meeting brought together representatives from Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand, fostering collaboration and insights into the ASEAN furniture industry.

Country Reports: Each AFIC member country shared updates on their export and import performance, industry trends, and major trade events from the past year.
Thailand’s AFIC Chairmanship Initiatives (2024-2025): The AFIC team presented key milestones under its leadership, focusing on:
– Digitalization – Launching a new AFIC website.
– Sustainability & Innovation in Business & BCG Economy – Strengthening partnerships with PEFC to promote sustainability.
– Design & Collaboration – Introducing the first-ever ASEAN Furniture Design Award 2025 with the theme “Seat for the Future”
– Leadership & Tradition – Hosting AYFE 2024, connecting over 50 young furniture industry talents across ASEAN.
– Global Commitment – Organizing this 43rd AFIC Working Committee Meeting to encourage industry leaders to exchange ideas and insights.
The morning session concluded with an inspiring talk by Ms. Jamila Akhundova, Market Engagement Officer & Furniture Market Engagement Manager of PEFC, who provided valuable insights into PEFC certification, sustainability and responsible sourcing.
After a productive session, participants enjoyed a great networking lunch together.
